It feels like Spring in the garden today!

Out in the garden today. Tackled the strawberries. Trimming off the runners. Have plenty to sell this year.

Strawberries, Before...

Strawberries, After. Now they can put their energy into berries, and not into the runners:)

Tis the season for greens. Japanese mustard below self-seeded. Won't be long before we start selling our Sensational Salads again! Already enjoying kale, spinach, chard, & wasabi greens. Jason just planted a bed of Asian greens, lettuce, radishes, collards, kale. He also planted the broad beans and a bed of peas today.

This is the first day I've noticed the soil warm enough to stick my fingers in to it, to weed. Got rid of the weeds in some of the beds where newby (self-seeding) food plants are coming up.

Everything's coming back to life. Buds on the trees...  Heather for the bees below. It's a good thing too, the bees are out and hungry.

Lots of garlic coming up to gab about!

Hello Spring!

As March arrives, so do the flowers :)

Good thing too, the bees love it!

February 2013 To Do's

February 21st!   Out in our garden, a month ahead of last year's schedule - tying up raspberries, and pruning.

Grapes, Before...

And After.

A month of beautiful skies.

My Trumpeting Bees

January 19th! Oh beautiful day! The day the bees first come out of the hive, after huddling over the winter months to keep warm. Like little trumpets, they announce the first day of Spring, "we're out and about, the growing season begins today!"

Sunbathing bees!

Landing on our jackets, curious, saying hello...

Bee poop everywhere! (Because bees don't poop in the hive, the first time out of the hive in the spring means poop everywhere! And a pretty cool thing to witness:)
